A washed baseball cap with a relaxed, low-profile fit and a small embroidered lotus tile at the front. The design is inspired by dancheong ( 단청), the traditional painted patterns found on Korean temple architecture.
This particular motif comes from Sudeoksa Temple, one of the rare temples that survived the destruction of the Japanese colonial period. When I visited, I was able to see these patterns up close and even touch the temple’s wooden pillars, which are believed to be nearly a thousand years old.
This embroidered lotus tile represents a single part of the balanced geometry and repeated patterns you'll find in temple dancheong. In Buddhism, the lotus flower symbolizes purity and awakening. Its pure petals can bloom even in the muddiest waters.
A small piece of Korean temple design for your everyday life.

Every spring Washington, DC, celebrates the National Cherry Blossom Festival, and every year the city releases its own cherry blossom merch. This year I was inspired to make my own homage to the cherry blossoms for Saseo.Studio.
This tee features an original cherry blossom branch design influenced by minhwa, the style of traditional folk paintings known for their expressive nature scenes and natural symbolism. It's a simple, artsy cherry blossom shirt that blends DC's seasonal traditions with Korean-inspired design and the creative vision behind Saseo.Studio.
